Letters of Intent, Nov 6/09

Letters of Intent

Letters of Intent, brought to you by Julie @ Foursons. Click on over for some more chicken-scratching and pencil-licking. (pencil-licking *snicker*)

Dear Lungs,

As of yesterday, we are now Officially 3 Months Smoke Free.  How do you feel?  Like a couple of shiny pennies, no doubt.  Or a pair of shiny lungs, even. I am going to continue to try my hardest to not fill you up with cigarette smoke.  Also, thanks for not getting infested with some gnarly bacteria, or worse; The Virus, The Name Of Which Will Remain Unsaid So As Not To Jinx Us.

Keep up the good work!
Stone

Dear Cardiovascular System,

In case the Lungs haven't told you, we are 3 months smoke free.  Yes, it is Fan-freaking-tastic!  Have I told you lately you're doing a great job? Because you so are.  And hey, I really appreciate that since we quit smoking, I'm not getting those scary dizzy spells, which always occurred while I was driving, anymore. Was that actually smoking-related? Or just a psychosomatic mechanism to scare the ever-loving shit out of me?  Whatever it was, it worked!

Great job!
Stone

Dear Psyche and/or Relevant Parts of My Brain,

Okay, so obviously you know we are past the 3 month mark.  Now, it's going to be a bit tricky for the next couple of weeks, because in the past, this is where you tend to drop the ball.  Don't try to convince the rest of us that, "we can have just one; after all, we've proven we can quit!" We'll all be smoking again in no time if that's how you're going to play it.

Since I have your attention, I'd like to address something else.  It's time to shut off the Negative Eating Patterns.  Honestly.  I get the whole concept of replacing one addiction with another, but could we please pick something other than food? Something that will keep my hands busy but not cause me to bust out of every pair of pants I own? There is only so much Lycra in these jeans, Brain.

So how do you feel about knitting? Can I get a hell yeah for knitting?

Thanks very much,
Stone

  1. How about you knit me a lovely pair of mittens, a scarf, and a hat? Then you can keep yourself busy AND help out someone shivering in the arctic cold of Michigan.

    HELL, YEAH!!!!

  2. Dear Stone Fox,
YOU KICK ASS! Look at you being all smoke-free for three months. AWESOME! You are a rock star. And a not stinky, healthy rock star at that.
It gets easier, I can promise you that. I'm also not gonna lie to you there will be times, six months, a year, two years from when you quit when you'll still find yourself missing the hell out of smoking. It's perfectly normal.
Good for you. Congrats on such a huge milestone. you rock!

  4. Congratulations Lady! That's awesome. I have to say I might have been getting a *teensy* bit concerned, since you hadn't been complaining ;-) about quitting lately, so this is welcome news!

Here's a thought: insofaras I am aware, the last time(s?) you've quit, you didn't have a blogging addiction to substitute, so uh, there? Just trying to help!

    Keep up the good work!

  5. Wow! you quit SMOKING? I didn't know that! you're AmAZING! Keep writing...it's good for the soul and will have you doing something with your hands at the same time, to replace that smoking-hands thing. Knitting works, too and you have something to show for it too!

I swear, if you weren't way over there I'd take you for...something...alcoholic yet low calorie...if it existed.

  6. Congrats!! Having been a smoker for almost 20 years I can say I know from experience how hard it was to quit! Yay for you! Just think in a couple years you will be able to say "I haven't smoked in two years!!!" It is a serious buzz to be able to say that now. Love it! :)

  8. Well, sure, go ahead and steal Woman of the Year away from me. And, um, weird, because I just decided about 45 minutes ago that I need to start knitting SOMETHING instead of just KNITTING because I have some yarn hanging around. Shall we work on a project together?

  9. Glad to see that you stayed on the quitting program too. I too have not written about it in a while either, didn't want to come across as a soapboxer, but kudos it is a journey well WORTH taking isn't it?
